Howie's House of Comedy Ft. Larry 'Bubbles' Brown

Howie Nave has been a Lake Tahoe fixture up here for over 18 years now and his experience in the comedy biz dates back to 1998 when founder of The Improv, Budd Friedman hired him to run his room first in Reno than up in South Lake Tahoe. Before that Howie was a full-time, road touring comedian best known for his parody songs and regular stints on the nationally syndicated "Dr. Demento” radio show and being on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Nave opened for a wide variety of talent including Neil Young, Trisha Yearwood, Howie Mandell, Louie Anderson, Soupy Sales, Johnny Cash, “Weird Al" Yankovic and Robin Williams to name a few. He's also had the number one morning radio show here in Tahoe (Howie's Morning Rush on KRLT 93-9) since 2003 and was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2015. His podcast, (Howie's High Sierra Comedy Vault Podcast @ is a popular download and features some of the biggest names in comedy. "Being a member of The Loft family is a real treat and an extension of everything I've done that's come before."

Mr. Excitement, Larry ‘Bubbles’ Brown is a favorite among other comedians. He got his nickname, ‘Bubbles’ years ago when sharing a hot tub with comedian Paula Poundstone and she commented that he was like bubbles and well, it sort of stuck and we’ve been calling him that ever since. He is so well liked in the comedy world that big name acts such as Dana Carvey and the late Robin Williams request to use him as their opening act. The first time I worked with him was back in the late 90‘s when we were booked together in Santa Rosa and I couldn’t believe how down on himself he was. I think that’s why the audience was laughing so hard. He’s the same off stage as he is on too! Larry is an acquired taste and I remind people who have low self esteem or feel that there's no hope left to come see his show. Nothing makes one feel more uplifted after seeing a 'Bubbles' show. In all seriousness he's one of the first comics to volunteer whenever there's a charity event that involves another comedian. I remember booking him (along with 5 other comedians) for a benefit show and literally two nights later was booked on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” He really has this great, self-deprecating humor about himself that isn't fake at all. He really is his act! When not doing television shows or the occasional benefits, Larry does movies such as “The Kite Runner” and filmmaker Roger Nygard’s movie, “Suckers.” He's also in the documentary, “3 Still Standing” which chronicles the careers of three bay area comics: Johnny Steele, Will Durst and yes, Larry ‘Bubbles’ Brown.
